![]() Shepherd Group Modifications One of the many responsibilities of the Congregational Care Ministry Team is to oversee the functioning of the Shepherd Groups. With the intent of making this easier for the members of the Shepherd Groups, some modifications have been made this year to their guidelines. For the most part the members of each Shepherd Group will stay together as they were in 2008. Shepherd Group Guidelines *Caring for Current Members: Caring for each other-to be aware of Group Members' needs-if they need help during an illness or emergency and if they need to be held in prayer. *Welcoming and Embracing New Members: When a New Member joins Woodlands Church and is assigned to the Shepherd Group, a member of that Group stands up with the New Member or ask someone else in the Shepherd Group to do so, thereby giving the New Member a contact to help them assimilate into the Body of the Church. *Serving the Body of the Church: The Shepherd Group Members provide coffee set up/service and clean up at Sunday Fellowship Time for the month corresponding to the Shepherd Group's number. The Shepherd Group will not be responsible for providing cookies for Sunday Fellowship Time. (Cookies will be provided through a volunteer sign-up sheet in the Narthex.)They will only be asked to set up the cookie table with a tablecloth, prepare and serve the coffee, and clean up after. *Encouraging Fellowship and Unity: Plan at least one event during the year to be held in the Fellowship Hall (not counting Annual Congregational Dinner). Whenever a Shepherd Group plans a function they should feel free to invite Jim and Libby Farley, and Kenny and Diania McKay to participate. These, of course, are only guidelines and Shepherd Groups may enhance them in any way that glorifies God and encourages their members. -Helen Stivitts |
