*NEW BETH MOORE BIBLE STUDY FOR WOMEN. This DVD Study on the book of Daniel starts Tuesday, June 16 from 1-3 pm and continues for eleven weeks. The study speaks to us about living a life of integrity and resolve in our modern-day Babylon. Please see the signup sheet on the hallway bulletin board and join this class, led by Libby Farley.

The new Woodlands Presbyterian Women board met this week and our first order of business was to thank the out-going board, Donna Hedinger, Vi Berry, Mary Clack, and Betty Johnson, for their dedication to WPW and for serving the women of the church faithfully last year.

Second order of business was to review the by-laws of the organization and to assign responsibilities as follows: Karen Merrick, as Moderator conducts monthly meetings and coordinates the activities of WPW; Ann Workman as Vice Moderator is responsible for programs; Vi Berry as Secretary keeps minutes of all meetings; and Lou Bullen as Treasurer keeps track of the money. Joyce Weaver has agreed to coordinate the retreat this year and Marilyn Brehm will coordinate devotions at monthly luncheons.

The overarching theme for WPW 2009/10 is:

WPW Serving Others in Need
Woodlands Presbyterian Church has many women who serve others where they see a need. We will be highlighting some of their activities throughout the year with our programs. The first meeting, September 14th will be a program about the work being done in Slidell, LA at the aftermath of Katrina.

All luncheon meetings will be held in Fellowship Hall on the 2nd Monday of the month and begin at 11:00 a.m. with the exception of the December meeting when we celebrate Christmas!!

The Board is encouraging church members to support the Village Walk for Cancer Research on September 19th. For further information, see the WPW bulletin board and Ann Workman’s article elsewhere in this LOG.

PW MISSION PROJECT We need helpers for Good Sam’s on the first Wednesday of each month from 3 - 4:30 pm. to help play games. We also need small items to be used for prizes. Please put them in the box by the Name Tags. See a signup sheet on the hallway bulletin board.

PW MISSION MNISTRY. We are presently collecting large cans of fruits and vegetables in #10 cans for Samaritan Ministries, a shelter in Hot Springs for homeless men.

Remember those trinkets laying around the house to donate for Good Sam’s Bingo Program. You may put the items in the box next to the nametags in the narthex.
